How Do I Prepare For A Job Interview

It is completely natural to feel nervous before a job interview but you can minimize pre-interview stress with some preparation.You already know what you can do but do you know what the company does? Preparing yourself with a little information about the organisation you are being interviewed by will give you an essential insight into what the potential employer may be looking for in an interview candidate such as yourself.
Whilst you do not need to spend a great deal of time knowing all the ins and outs of a company, it is important to have a good basic knowledge of what it does, it’s specific marketplace and it’s history. It is unlikely you will be asked many questions about the company’s history but you will get a feel for the philosophy of the organisation over the years and can tailor your answers to match with that philosophy.
The questions being asked during the interview will reveal a lot of information regarding the type of person they are hoping to hire and the kind of impact they are hoping to get form the new addition to the organization. If your interviewers seemed to value team player opposed to personal accomplishment, then do not brag about your own selfish ability and how you excel in individual ventures.
By showing you know a little about the products and services offered by the organisation, you are also showing that you have done some research prior to the interview, this in turn shows you have dedicated some of your own time into really trying to work for the organisation.
As you do some research about the company you can also compile a questions list of your own which you can ask during the interview. By asking questions about the job you have applied for or about the company, you are showing a positive initiative.You may find that all of your questions have been answered during the interview process, don’t worry and don’t feel that you still need to ask the questions and get the interviewers to repeat themselves. Just let them know that you had some questions but they have all been answered whilst you have been talking.
Finally, think about the questions the interviewer may ask you. They will want to know what experience you have and how you would handle certain situations. They may ask you to refer to previous situations you have been in and want you to draw on information from real life scenarios. It is good to have an idea of what scenarios you can refer to before the interview despite not knowing exactly what information the interviewer may wish to gather from your answer. Example scenarios would be positions of responsibility, meeting deadlines, managing a project, etc. Answering in a confident, knowledgeable will give the interviewer confidence in you. Try not to be evasive or miss out key areas of information as this will hinder the interviewer when deciding if you are right for the job.
